Maria João Worm was born in Lisbon. The awareness of time took her to the animation cinema at Escola António Arroio. Later, she took a technical-professional course in ceramics. From Sculpture in Porto she transferred to Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon. She collaborated in magazines, books and newspapers, publishing illustrations and graphic narratives. She has used the technique of linogravure, which considers a happy encounter between sculpture and painting.
From the painting and engraving exhibitions, she highlight the exhibition “A colecção particular de A”(The private collection of A) at Monumental gallery in 2006, and “A Fonte das Palavras” (The Source of the Words) at Casa das Histórias Paula Rego in 2013. She received the National Illustration Award in 2011, with the book “Os Animais Domésticos” (The Domestic Animals) published by Quarto de Jade editions. Last year she published the book “Planície Pintada” (Painted Plain), also by Quarto de Jade, with Diniz Conefrey. Her work can be found at www.quartodejade.com
